Generations of Exceptional
Craftsmanship

Del’s shop is now in Port Townsend, but regularly scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs are available in the Seattle area.

The Chair Repair is a family business serving Greater Seattle. We specialize in the crafts of caning, rushing, splinting, cord, and wicker restoration of old and new furniture. We are the last shop in the Northwest with mastery of all the seat-weaving skills. As artisans, we take pride in providing quality service for repairing and restoring all things in the fiber arts using these unique organic materials (listed here) from around the world.

History

Established in 1971, Pat Webber began The Chair Repair out of her home in Bellevue, Washington. Today, her son Del Webber has become the owner and operator of the business and is one of the few remaining artisans doing this kind of work in the Pacific Northwest. It is the mission of The Chair Repair to restore and retain the intrinsic and cultural heritage that furniture can possess for collectors, families and individuals.

Del provides over 50 years of experience to restore your furniture. We do most of our weaving and repairs in our shop/studio located in Port Townsend, however, several times a month we coordinate an appointment schedule for drop-offs and pick-ups in the Seattle area.

Del Webber has been weaving and restoring furniture for over 50 years.

He began a career in chair weaving when a friend’s mom presented him with a challenge: a broken caned seat. Driven by the pursuit of excellence as well as the desire to prevent more furniture from ending up in landfills, Del has been pursuing mastery in the fiber arts ever since. He began The Chair Repair with his mother, an avid weaver as well. Beyond chairs, Del uses stone as a canvas to weave on. His work in sculpture and fine arts can be seen at galleries in the Seattle area, as well as around the world.
